The Future of Work Skills Hub, NMITE, Hereford

The client brief is to create a striking building that showcases NMITE as an organization, providing learning space that is flexible and adaptable to the changing needs of the future, in a high performing, well insulated building with a low embodied carbon footprint, using natural materials and fabric first construction methods.

The timber frame superstructure is open and transparent, and further to its structural function provides a learning tool to the engineering students utilizing the space. Careful interventions within the existing building help to open up the internal spaces to maximize functionality and modernize the original Victorian building.
