Private Residence, Chippenham

A bespoke new build home with iconic architectural features, this private residence was built to exceptionally high standards with close cooperation between the build team and the structural engineer to ensure the bespoke design details were successfully realised.

Features of this design include an exposed freestanding insitu concrete chimney stack, glulam portal frame open-plan living space and a cantilevered jetty spanning out over the river Avon.

Giraffe Engineering provided a full structural design service including design of both shallow and piled foundations, taking account of shrinkable soils a nearby mature trees. Our expertise with local ground conditions enabled us to agree a cost saving solution with Building Control, avoiding the need for more extensive ground investigations and saving the client significant costs.
