Science Research Park, Wiltshire

The project for the creation of a high-tech science research and development facility involved the restoration of two historic World War II aircraft hangers. Detailed inspection, structural analysis and remedial works specifications by Giraffe Engineering allowed the ancient structures to be granted a new lease of life for another 50 years into the future. This solution would provide an outer shell for a new modular lightweight glulam frame structure to be inserted within the existing hangar space, offering substantial embodied carbon savings compared to demolition and rebuild.

Giraffe Engineering provided a full suite of structural and civil design services to this £50M project.
